This project involves two routine maintenance dredging operations at the Spesutie Island boat ramp, scheduled for contract award in FY24. The first dredging period is set between June 15 and July 15, 2024, and the second between January 1 and February 15, 2025. The work will comply with Maryland Wetlands Administration License Permit #19-1155, following all guidelines related to maintenance dredging. Dredged materials will be disposed of at a State of Maryland-approved upland disposal site. If the designated site is unavailable, and an alternative site is approved by the state, disposal will occur at the approved location, adhering to the site-specific requirements.

SDC is the prime contractor for two of the US Army – 63rd Readiness Divisions Multiple Award Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (MAIDIQ) in Regions 3 and 4 which includes California, Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada. This design-build contract includes a full range of construction management projects including civil, electrical, plumbing and structural work.

SDC performed this design-build civil works project at Fort Jackson in Columbia, SC for USACE Charleston District. The project included milling 3-inches of asphalt and repaving the roadway with base course and top course on Hill Street on the base. This included striping the new road and installing traffic signs and concrete curbing, sidewalk, and storm drain swale and resodding affected areas. SDC identified a sink-hole next to the road and designed and implemented a solution to repair the storm drain associated with the sink hole and complete the original project. SDC developed and implemented a quality control plan to ensure full compliance with applicable federal and South Carolina DOT requirements

SDC, through our joint venture with Tidewater (TI-SDC) was tasked with the complete rebuild of Cleaver Brooks Model DL-85-LH industrial boiler. TI-SDC dismantled the Burner assembly and the gas train as well as, removed inner and outer casing of boiler, removed inner insulation of boiler, removed drum seals, knee wall, front and rear wall of boiler. TI-SDC is replacing all refractory, tubes, and the steel drum inside the boiler.

The central heating and cooling plant at Walter Reed National Military Medical center has been operating with emergency backup electric generators from the 1970’s. SDC was tasked with the project management for the replacement of the aged generators. </br></br> The generators were located on the mezzanine level in building 16. Cooling and combustion air is drawn in from louvers adjacent to the two generators, engine exhaust and cooling radiator air is routed through the roof. Engine exhaust is an 8” pipe routed through a silencer and roof above.<br></br> To remove the existing generators, wall louvers had to be removed on the third floor. The existing generators were lowered to the ground and new units were craned back through the same opening. SDC coordinated all utility outages, road closures, and crane inspections for the lift operations. <br></br> SDC was also responsible for coordinating system startup, loadbank testing, and owner training.

Through a project managed for the government by USACE Huntsville, SDC was responsible for design, acquisition, and installation of three new chillers for buildings 241 and 242 at Fort Myer, VA. The existing chillers were removed and two 160-ton and one 60-ton air cooled chillers with low ambient operation were installed along with all associated piping, automatic feed system tank piping and isolation valves. Chillers were calibrated and inspected before being brought online.
